Updated: Two persons shot as gunmen attack Construction Company in Owo

Two persons have been injured after gunmen attacked a construction company in Owo, Ondo state.

The assailants were said to have arrived at about 9 o’clock last night while it was raining and most of the workers were indoors.

Reports indicate that the gunmen shot sporadically into the air and damaged the windshields of two earthmovers at the site on Wednesday evening.

The two workers who sustained gunshots injuries during the attack are being treated at the federal medical centre, Owo.

Police public relations officer in Ondo state, Funmilayo Odunlami who confirmed the incident said investigation was ongoing into the matter while the police would make its position known soon.

Meanwhie the state commissioner of police Oyeyemi Oyediran has called for calm in the state

The police commissioner also appealed to residents of state to cooperate with the police in curbing crime rate in the state

A statement by the command’s public relations officer Funmilayo Odunlami says the anti-bomb squad of the command visited the scene of the incident and confirmed that improvised explosive device was used to bust a  tractor tyre at the scene of the crime

The statement adds that investigation has commenced to unravel those behind the incident
