ASUU Strike: Protesting OAU Students Shut Down Ife-Ibadan Road

Some students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has blocked the Ife-Ibadan express road to protest the ongoing strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The students carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “Education is not a scam,”fund education now” among others converged on their main campus and marched down to Ife Ibadan express road leading to a traffic gridlock a the axis

Police operatives led by the commissioner of police Wale Olokode were on ground to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order

Some indigenes also joined the students in the protest.

While Speaking to newsmen Some of the protesting students Mojeed Olugbade and Omowumi Abraham accused the Federal Government and the striking lecturers of playing with their future, saying frequent disruption of academic activities has had a negative impact on their education.

Olugbade and Abraham appealed to the federal government to mend fence with the university lecturers for the sake of their future

The students vowed to continue the protest until federal government accede to their demands.
