Clergy calls on christians to imitate Christ as World observes Ash Wednesday

As Wednesday is an important Christian holy day, especially to the Catholics.

It’s a day heralding the 40days lenten period, heralding the Easter celebration in the Christian calendar.

In view of this, the catholic bishop of Osogbo diocese Most Rev. John Oyejola has called on all christians to use the lent period to imitate Christ by showing undiluted love and kindness to those in need.

Most rev Oyejola delivered this message to commemorate the beginning of this year lenten season.

Most rev Oyejola noted that the season is characterized by fasting, prayer and penance

The bishop explained further that Lenten period is a time for Christians to reflect on their lives, find out where they had gone wrong and where to make amendment.

He urged Christians to make the period very purposeful and remorseful by praying and fasting.

A christian faithful Bukola Olaniyan said lenten period is a time for Christians to avoid temptation and undergo a spiritual journey of self-discipline while fasting.

Olaniyan enjoined all to use the opportunity of this holy period to pray for Nigeria to surmount all it challenges
