OAU chapter of ASUU embarks on indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of University Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife chapter has embarked on an indefinite strike.

This was the outcome of the emergency congress held today by the members of the union

According to a statement issued by the chairperson of asuu in the university adeola Egbedokun the decision of the union to commence on strike was due to lack of commitment on the part of the university to effect payment of Earned Academic Allowances to its members.

The statement further states that Payment of the Allowances must be based on ASUU computation saying anything short of that would not be acceptable.

The release notes that the strikes is indefinite and a committee will be set up to monitor the level of compliances on the part of members.

The university PPRO Abiodun Olanrewaju in a telephone interview with adaba F.m says the issue is complicated as the university has two factions in the union.
