Ekiti pensioners go spiritual over entitlements

Pensioners in Ekiti state have resulted into prayers to enable them access their pensions and gratuities which they said is in the realm of 1.8 billion naira.

The senior citizens during the prayer session lamented the failure of the government to offset the backlog of their gratuities since 2013.

The state NUP chairman, Comrade Joel Akinola said the state government is also owing local government pensioners to the tune of 19 million naira while arrears of pension owed by the government is still at about 7 months.

He appealed to the state government to do all things humanly possible to offset their pensions and gratuities and should not pass it to the incoming administration noting that no amount of infrastructural development could save the life of dying aged persons.
