Ekiti Court Jails 7 Persons For Court Contempt

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, has sentenced six persons into fourteen days imprisonment without an option of fine for contempt of the court.

The Six Persons are; Ariyo Yomi Amos, J.I Fatukasi, Ajibewa, Ibidun Isaac and Bayo Olanlege,

In his pronouncement, Chf. Magistrate Adesoji Adegboye, having listened to Rotimi Adebambe Esq. and Opeyemi Ogunremi Esq. for the applicant and Femi Familusi Esq. counsel to the defendants/respondent said, the sanctity of the court must be protected at all times.

The order sought to commit the defendants to prison for disobedience to the order of the court made on April the 4th 2019 was granted by the trial chief magistrate.

The magistrate ruled that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th respondents are to be kept at the Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti and produced in the court on Thursday the 29th of July, 2021, when they should have purged out of the contempt of the court.
