ICC acknowledges petition by Yoruba self-determination groups against FG

The International Criminal Court has formally acknowledged the receipt of a 27-page petition filed by the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye.

50 others, including Sunday Igboho signed the petition against president Muhammadu Buhari, justice minister, Abubakar Malami, former chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai as well as  former inspectors general of police Ibrahim Idris and Muhhamed Adamu.

ICC’s head of communications, Mark Dilon said investigations will soon commence and petitioners will be duely informed.

ICC commended the petitioners for taking a bold and legitimate step to show their grievances.

The 27-page petition accused Buhari and others of genocide and physical destruction of property in some parts of Nigeria.
