UN berates rate of drug abuse in Nigeria
The United Nations Office on Drug and Crimes, UNODC has declared that 14.4 percent of Nigerians are presently engaged in drug abuse.
UNODC country representative to Nigeria, Olivier Stolpe said the number of Nigerians involved in drug abuse could rise to 20million in 8years.
He observed that the development portends a negative trend to the future of the country.
Stolpe explained that 27.7percent of those concerned are youths who should face their studies.
Stolpe said UNODC is supporting the federal government to change the narrative and secure the future of Nigerian youths.
Stolpe called for more awareness on the dangers of using drugs.
