BREAKING: Resident doctors commence nationwide strike

As the ultimatum given to the federal government expires today, members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors have commenced a nationwide strike despite federal government’s last-minute efforts to stop the action.

The association assured Nigerians that their action was not born out of their insensitivity to their plights.

It added that it is a wakeup call to the Nigerian government, ministry of health and the labour unions, which responsibilities, amongst others is to care for citizens.

The union’s president, Dr Uyilawa Okhuaihesuyi, confirmed to newsmen that the strike commenced eight ‘0’ clock this morning.

The strike is happening at a time when the President Muhammadu Buhari is in London for medical check-up.
