NIN: Bayelsa residents lament alleged extortion by NIMC officials
Residents of Bayelsa state have called on the federal government to intervene in the allegations of bribery leveled against the state office of the National Identity Management Commission.
Applicants were raising allegations that a certain amount is being paid to the commission during the registration exercise.
They alleged that the commission is extorting prospective applicants which does not match up with the federal government directives.
In his response, the NIMC coordinator in the state, Bobmanuel Ibiba Agola said the allegations were baseless.
The exercise is ongoing nationwide as many Nigerians are struggling to meet up with the deadline.
