7 Borno Hunters Killed, 19 Others Injured by Landmine
Over seven hunters were killed and 19 other injured on Tuesday by a landmine 30 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The incident was confirmed yesterday by senators representing Borno central and Jere federal constituency, Kashim Shettima, and Ahmed Satomi respectively.
The explosion destroyed the vehicles of local hunters who were in search for suspected boko haram members accused of rustling cows from communities in Jere local government area of the state.
One of the survivors, Abubakar Gambo, told journalists in Maiduguri that they were 19 on board their patrol truck when they heard a loud bang which they thought was a tyre burst, but later discovered it was a bomb.
