Salary structure: Cross River College of Health Technology workers begin strike
Workers at the Cross River college of health technology has commenced a one-week warning strike following the suspension of the consolidated polytechnic and colleges of education and academic salary structure by the state government.
Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Mr Bright Ewona, said the suspension of the Consolidated Polytechnic Academic Salary Structure, CONPCASS, and the Consolidated Tertiary Educational Salary Structure, CONTEDISS, by the state government in November 2019 was unwarranted.
Ewona explained that CONPCASS and CONTEDISS salary structures were approved by the national salaries, income and wages commission in 2010 and implemented in 2011 for all polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of health technology in Nigeria.
He said the union has exhausted all avenues, including the expiration of the 14 days ultimatum, hence the need for the withdrawal of services for one week.
