Ondo Assembly expresses concern over inadequacy of fire service towards distress calls
The Ondo state house of assembly has expressed concern over the inadequacy of the state fire service to respond to distress calls during fire incidents
Chairman ad-hoc committee on fire incidents, Jamiu Maito made this know during a visit to the headquarters of the service for on the spot assessment of the facilities and to look into the problems confronting the agency.
Maito noted that the visit follows a series of fire incidents in Akure .
The lawmaker charges the service to partner with other stakeholders in order to make its perform effectively.
Maito tasked the state fire service to submit a comprehensive report that will encompass the deficiencies of the fire service to the house.
Other members of the committee, Toluwani Borokini and Abayomi Akinruntan also urged the agency to work more on their maintenance culture.
On his part, the director of the state fire service, Mr Ayodele Ashamo lauded the lawmakers for the visit while highlighting the challenges faced by the fire service especially during fire emergencies.
