Court Sentences Lovers to Community Service for Fake Kidnapping in Ekiti
An Ekiti state chief magistrate court in Ado Ekiti has sentenced a teenager, Olawusi Victor and his girlfriend, Idris Mary to two weeks community service for faking their abduction.
18 year old victor and his 20 year old girlfriend were arrested in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Mary had left home to visit her boyfriend, where they feigned her abduction to defraud her parents.
Police prosecutor, Monica Ikebulo, told the court that they conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, by concealing their whereabout and demanded ransom from Mary’s parent, that she had been kidnapped.
Ikebulo hinted that the act committed on 9th August, 2020,
In her ruling, chief magistrate, Adefunke Anoma said the defendants demonstrated a sign of high moral decadence which she said has entered the fabric of every youth in the society.
She sentenced both of them to two weeks community service and recommended two weeks counselling exercise to be supervised the court registrar.
