Respect Court decision, Falana tells FG

Activist-lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has urged the federal government to respect the decision of the court of appeal, Lagos division.

The court upheld the constitutional right of the government of Lagos state to control intra-inland waterways.

In a statement, Falana, contends that the federal government lacks the power to authorize dredgers to mine any resources in the intra-inland waterways in Lagos state.

The permanent secretary of the ministry of mines and steel development, Mr. Mohammed Abass, had directed some dredgers licensed by the federal government to continue to mine resources in the intra-inland waterways in Lagos state despite the judgment of the court of appeal.
