Gov. Bello wants NLC to shelve planned strike action

Niger state governor, Abubakar Bello of has appealed to the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), to suspend its strike for peace and industrial harmony.

Chief press secretary to the governor Mary Berje in says government is working relentlessly to ensure that all pending issues concerning civil servants were addressed swiftly.

Berjy adds that negotiations are still ongoing and government was doing its best to improve the living standard of the people in spite of the challenges and paucity of funds.

She explains that the state government had commenced implementation of the national minimum wage, assuring that its consequential adjustment and arrears would be paid as soon as government and labour concluded negotiations.
