Osun joins states hit by Lassa fever

The government of Osun has confirmed two cases of Lassa fever in the state.

The commissioner for health, Rafiu Isamotu, confirmed this during a press briefing in Osogbo, the state capital.

Isamotu said the two patients affected with the deadly disease are currently receiving treatment at the Obafemi Awolowo university teaching hospital Ile Ife.

The commissioner for health hinted that the state has taken protective measures and embarked on mass sensitization at all levels across the state to curtail the outbreak.

Also speaking, the special assistant to the state governor on public health, Siji Olamiju, urged residents of the state to maintain good hygiene and ensure that their homes are rats free

Olamiji hinted that special centers have been made available for any person diagnosed of Lassa fever.
