‘Voter’s participation is a direct consequence of corruption’ – Stakeholders

Some stakeholders have indicated that the decline in voters’ participation is a direct consequence of corruption.

They made it known that citizens are gradually losing interest in the democracy of Nigeria.

An economic expert, Orji Udemezue revealed that so many of the citizens believe their effort do not count and their confidence is being destroyed.

A legal practitioner, Eze Onyekpere, also blamed the government for failing in its duties to correct past electoral mistakes.

He revealed that people have begun to see that their electoral efforts are being wasted even in court.

The stakeholders called on the government to devise means of putting an end to violence and electoral malpractices during election.

They were speaking with newsmen in Abuja on how to create enabling environment for voters.
