Ekiti to kick start yellow fever vaccination

Ekiti state government, is set to commence vaccination campaign against yellow fever.

At a one day sensitization meeting with stakeholders on implementation of the campaign in ado Ekiti, the director of public health at the state ministry of health, Dr. Marcus Ilesanmi, noted that the move was to prevent the spread of the disease in the state.

Dr. Ilesanmi pointed out that tremendous progress has been made in the drive to eradicate yellow fever and drastically reduce the epidemic with the use of vaccines designed for the purpose.

On his part, a resource person from the world health organization, Dr. Ayomide Aibinuomo explained that the vaccination will be administered to persons from nine month old up to 44 years.

The programme which was preceded by a sensitisation training for health reporters, journalists, correspondents, and religious leaders ahead of the statewide yellow fever vaccine administration will kick off on January the 24th 2020.
