Navy rescue foreign captives after gun battle with pirates
Special troops of the Nigerian navy on Tuesday night and early hours of Wednesday engaged with sea pirates in a marathon gun battle to rescue three kidnapped foreign sailors
While perpetrating the act, the pirates allegedly killed four Nigerian navy personnel
One of the pirates was subsequently arrested
It was gathered that personnel of the Forward Operations Base (FOB) Igbokoda at its Awoye [DMR] outpost had been laying siege on the area since the killing of a naval personnel at Agge in Bayelsa state
The naval forces in a tactical Manoeuvre, trailed the suspects who beach landed at a nearby creek and fled into the bush.
The arrested suspect, Martins Egenuvhe from Bayelsa state alongside the rescued foreign nationals, have been taken in, for further investigations.
