Senate approves 10bn loan for Kogi

The senate has approved the 10bn loan refund for Kogi state despite stiff resistance from the opposition senators.

Immediately the chairman of the senate committee on local and foreign loans, senator Clifford Ordia, laid the report of his panel on the issue, senate president, Ahmed Lawan called for debate on it.

Meanwhile, the minority caucus in the senate kicked against the approval of the sum of the money for the Kogi state government few days to the governorship election slated for Saturday, November the 16th.

Minority leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe’s objected to the bill being discussed but was overruled by the senate president.

Abaribe in his contribution requested that the approval should be delayed for at least a week.

In his response, senate president, Ahmed Lawan said the Kogi state government applied for the refund during the eight senate but the request was not approved.
