2022 Election: 10,000 PDP members defect to APC in Osun
Not fewer than 10,000 members of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun state has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
The defectors were received by APC national secretary senator Iyiola Omisore and the state governor Gboyega Oyetola at the reelection campaign rally of governor Gboyega Oyetola in Osogbo and Olorunda local government area of the state.
Among the defectors was former factional chairman of PDP in Osun state Wale Ojo who attributed their decision to the modest achievements the ruling party under the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has recorded in the last three and half years.
While Speaking the chairman of the defectors caretaker committee who is also the speaker of the state house of assembly Timothy Owoeye said the mass defection is an indication that the party is already heading to victory in the forthcoming July 16th gubernatorial election, while commending the defectors for taking a bold step to join the party.
The Governor’s first port of call was the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo Oba Jimoh Olanipekun for royal blessing before he was later received by party faithful and supporters at the campaign ground at freedom park, Osogbo.
