Winners emerging from governorship poll as some declared inconclusive
The Independent National Electoral Commission is continuing with the announcements of the results of the governorship election process held in 29 states of the federation.
While the election in other states have been declared inconclusive for various reasons, winners have emerged in most of the states.
In Kwara state, APC’s Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq polled 331,546 votes to beat his closest rival Abdulrazak Atunwa of the PDP who polled 114.754 votes.
In Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC polled 739,445 to defeat PDP’s Jimi Agbaje who polled 206,141 votes.
APC candidate emerged victorious in Ogun state with its candidate, Dapo Abiodun polling 241,670 votes to defeat Adekunle Akinlade of the APM who scored 221,153 votes.
Oyo state returned to the fold of the PDP as Seyi Makinde polled 515,621 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bayo Adelabu of the APC who scored 357,982 votes.
Like in Oyo, PDP took control of Enugu and Abia states.
In the North West Geo political zone, APC claimed victory in Jigawa and Niger states while Gombe state in the north east fell under the control of APC.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship election in Plateau state as inconclusive.
other state results declared inconclusive are that of Sokoto, Bauchi and Adamawa states.
INEC said the results are inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes exceeds the margin between the leading political party and the runners up.
