Wike, Ortom distance themselves from Buhari’s allegation on local government funds
State governors have reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari allegation that governors are looting local government funds.
Those who reacted include Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom; David Umahi of Ebonyi, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara; Solomon Lalong of plateau; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun and Nyesom Wike of Rivers state.
Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike urged president Buhari to published names of the governors involved in the accusation.
Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom also distanced itself from the president’s allegation, saying he is the first to embrace local government financial autonomy.
Also reacting, Plateau state government denied treating local government unfairly, saying governor Simon Lalong always give the local government a free hand to operate.
At an event in Abuja, the president had re-echoed that local government administration in the country had been emasculated by governors through looting.
