We Didn’t Pay 1.3 Billion Naira as Bank Overdraft fees – Kano Government
The Kano State Government has denied allegations that it paid 1.3 billion naira as bank overdraft fees in relation to funds it used to pay workers’ salaries and pensions before and after the commencement of 2017 Ramadan.
The Commissioner for Finance, Kabiru Dandago and Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, denied the claims during a press briefing in Kano.
The commissioners explained that the state government only paid an interest of 10.7 million naira to enable hitch-free Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
They said the arrangement was made in good faith to increase the purchasing power of civil servants in the state for Sallah activities.
The commissioners urged the entire populace of Kano to ignore rumours aimed at tarnishing the image of the state government.
