UCH Security officers, Cleaners Protest Non-payment Of Salary
Security men and cleaners of the university college hospital, ibadan, Monday picket the two entrances of the hospital causing gridlock.
The workers were protesting the non-payment of their 11 months salaries by the hospital management.
Patients and staff of the hospital had difficulty gaining entrance into the premises as both gates were locked.
One of the workers who pleaded anonymity, accused the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, professor temitope alonge of deliberately withholding the fund meant for their salaries.
Meanwhile, the CMD while addressing the protesting workers called for calm.
Professor Alonge explained that their salaries were not paid directly by the hospital.
He promised to pay one month salary from the hospital internally generated revenue while efforts will be made to ensure speedy payment of the remaining by the agency involved.
