Students Injured As OAU Amphitheater Roof Collapses

No fewer than six students of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State sustained various degrees of injuries as torrential rainfall and whirlwind collapsed the amphitheater ceilings of one of the institution lecture rooms

Information has it that the wooden ceiling collapsed this morning when the students were receiving lecture.

The institution public relations officer Abiodun Olarenwaju who Confirmed the incident says the affected students were given prompt medical attention while those whose cases were Critical were taken to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex.

Olanrewaju says the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simeon Bamire has also led other principal officers to the Medical and Health Centre of the University, and it’s teaching hospital to ensure the injured students were given adequate medical attention.

The Public Relations Officer notes that the management of the University, has sealed off the amphitheatre, until further notice.

He also appeals for calm and urging students and staff to go about their academic and administrative activities without any form of untoward action
