State governments must pay workers – NLC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says some state governments must fulfil there promises to use the substantial part of the bailout fund to offset backlog of salaries owned workers and pensioners.

General Secretary the organization, Peter Ozo-Eson made the clarification while fielding questions from newsmen in Lagos.

He said state governors who have failed to utilize the bailout funds judiciously, do not have any moral justification to seek for another tranche.

Ozo-Eson advised state governments to improve their internally generated revenue drive for sustainability and financial independence.

He urged governors to set their priorities right by focusing on the welfare of the people rather than embarking on white elephant projects that do not have the direct impact on the people.
