Senate President agrees to resign over dual citizenship
Australian Senate President, Stephen parry says he will resign after confirming that has a United Kingdom dual citizenship.
The high court of Australia had ruled that five politicians were invalidly elected under the constitution because they held dual citizenship.
Information has it that Mr Parry inherited British citizenship from his father.
The report says a replacement for Mr Parry will be selected through a recount of votes from last year’s election.
He is the third government member to lose his job over the saga, following the disqualifications of deputy prime minister, Barnaby Joyce and regional development minister, Fiona Nash.
