Road Dualization: Ikere-Ekiti residents again appears to be up in arms with Fayose over building demolition
Some residents of Ikere-Ekiti, in Ekiti state, have again appeared to be up in arms with the state governor, Ayo Fayose over his decision to demolish more buildings at the heart of the town to pave way for a road dualization project.
The governor allegedly bent on demolishing two upstairs located at the roundabout area of the town.
The residents said any attempt by government agents and the contractor handling the project to demolish the building will be resisted.
The indigenes claimed that the state government had earlier ordered that all buildings facing the major road must be painted in a unify colour while the roof must also be painted in red.
The residents expressed shock at the decision of the governor to demolish their houses, as they said that they have complied with the directive of the governor to paint their houses and roof with the ordered colour.
It would be recalled that tension gripped the ancient town on June this year when the governor decided to uproot a sacred tree located at the heart of the town for the similar project.
