Qatar 2022: Ziyech Donates Morocco Bonus To Charity
Morocco star Hakim Ziyech has reportedly donated his 2022 World Cup bonus to charity.
It was gathered that Ziyech has never received any of the bonus he received while playing for Morocco.
The winger was instrumental in the Atlas Lions’ campaign at the global showpiece in Qatar where Morocco made history, becoming the first African team to reach the semi-final.
The North African side lost 2-0 to France on Wednesday night, as Les Blues ended their dream of playing in a World Cup final.
Ziyech who first earned his national call-up in 2015 is said to have handed all his bonuses to charities and members of the team’s staff.
It was gathered that the 29-year-old has always donated money to charity, and he has just done so again.
Reports have it that the former Ajax star is set to earn £262,000 from Morocco’s run to the World Cup semi-finals and that all the money will be given to poor people in his homeland.
It was learnt that the Chelsea star hires a private plane every time he is called up to his country’s squad.
They go on to claim that he has also donated money to amateur football clubs and hospitals in Morocco.
Meanwhile, It was earlier reported that US President Joe Biden sent a heartfelt message to Morocco after their exit from the 2022 World Cup after falling to defeat against France.
Biden watched the game with Aziz Akhannouch, Morocco’s Prime Minister along with other African leaders following his meeting with African leaders at the Whitehouse.
Biden joked that he didn’t have much time to give a speech since there was a semi-final game coming up.
