Port authorities in Singapore declares 5 sailors missing
Port authorities in Singapore say five sailors are missing after two ships collided in the waters off the coast of the country.
A report indicates that the collision took place between an Indonesian-registered tanker and a Dominican registered dredger.
The maritime authorities disclosed that the dredger capsized and was partially submerged, while the tanker was damaged on one side.
Authorities are conducting rescue operations and have deployed search vessels and a helicopter.
Seven Chinese nationals have been rescued and taken to the hospital.
The accident comes less than one month after a United States destroyer and an oil tanker collided near Singapore, leaving 10 United States crewmen dead.
