Police react to Ekiti robbery

Police in Ekiti State have described the robbery incident that occurred in Aramoko-Ekiti on Monday evening as An attempted bank robbery.

The State Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo who led some officers and men of his Command to ascertain the levels of the damage done at the Robbery scene told newsmen that suspected gunmen numbering about twenty stormed the town, attacked the Police Station while the bank robbery was going on simultaneously.

He said men of it’s command in conjunction with local security foiled the robbery incident, repelled the bandits attack with superior fire power of the police, as the armed robbers could not gain access to the bank’s vaults.

CP Tunde Mobayo further said that two persons, a police officer and a special Marshall who was traveling from Abuja lost their lives during the exchange of gun duel.

The Police boss further explained that investigation has commenced into the matter, while stressing that efforts are going on to ensure the long arm of the law catch up with them.

The traditional ruler of the town, Oba Olu Adeyemi in an interview with Adaba FM expressed his ordeal during the robbery incident that lasted for about 40 minutes while calling on the government to do more and strengthen the security architecture of the area.

The bandits shattered the police station and the entrance of the bank with explosive materials, while two vehicles believed to have been their operational vehicle were recovered by the police.
