Osun banks begin collection of old naira notes

Following the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria that the old naira notes remain legal tender till 31st of December, some commercial banks in Osogbo the Osun state capital are now issuing the old currency.

Correspondent Tolulope Faleye who went to some of the banks dispensing the old currency reports that many people were seen on the queue waiting to withdraw from the ATM.

Some market women, transporters and filling stations in the state capital have started accepting the old naira note as well while some are still rejecting it.

Some residents Gbadebo Idowu and Dunni Thomas who spoke with Adaba FM commended the Supreme Court for the ruling saying this will ameliorate the hardship people are currently facing.

Idowu and Thomas noted that the federal government needs to react on the court judgement inorder for the old naira note to be widely acceptable.
