Opposition’s leader Guaido awaits army support in Venezuela

Venezuelan opposition leader, Juan Guaido says change of government can only be achieved in the country with the support of the armed forces.

He made the comments on the basis that the country’s military chiefs have remained loyal to president Nicolas Maduro.

Guaido declared himself interim leader in January with an impression that he had the support of US and almost 90 percent of Venezuelans.

He has repeatedly accused president Maduro of being unfit for office and seeks his removal.

Maduro narrowly won a presidential election in April 2013 after the death of his mentor, president Hugo Chavez and got re-elected for second term in May 2018 in an election seen as flawed by international observers
