Onnoghen: Supreme Court fixes new date to decide CJN’s fate

The supreme court has fixed judgement in a suit by the cross river state government seeking to set aside the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen to May 17th 2019.

A seven-man panel of the court led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour fixed the date on Thursday after arguments from lawyer to parties.

Counsel to the Plaintiff Lucius Nwosu (SAN) argued that Onnoghen’s suspension by president Buhari violates the constitution while solicitor general of the federation Dayo Apata said the plaintiff lacks power to approach the supreme court on the issue.
