Ondo SDP disowns purported congress, describes process illegal 

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ondo state has distanced itself from a purported congress of the party organised by one of its former chairman, Dele Ogunbameru.

A statement jointly signed by the state chairman of the party, Steven Adewale and secretary, Adebola Aina described the purported congress as illegal and aimed at causing disaffection in the party.

The statement says the State Congress of the party has been constitutionally conducted on April the 9th with the presence of the security agencies and properly monitored by INEC officials in compliance with the electoral provision.

It says the congress produced the new state leadership of the party.

The statement adds that delegates to the party’s congresses and convention has also been elected on May the 12th.

It asks members of the party to remain calm and peaceful as the situation is very well under control while urging the public to disregard the actions and activities of Ogunbameru and his associates.
