Ondo NUJ organises free medical checkup for members

The chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ondo State, Leke Adegbite, has stressed the need for men of the pen profession to give a priority to their wellbeing.

This came to fore as the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Ondo State Council organised a free medical checkup for her members as part of activities for the 2022 NUJ press week.

As early as 9 o’clock in morning members of the union alongside their spouses were seen at the secretariat to have their health status checked.

Part of the health services carried out include blood pressure check, blood sugar check, general health talk.

NUJ chairman prince Leke Adegbite said most journalists are overwhelmed with work and have little time to check their health.

Prince Adegbite added that for members of the 4th estate to carry out their functions effectively, journalists must be in sound heath

Some journalists who benefited from the outreach expressed delight at the exercise and thanked the union for organising the free medical checkup.

The free medical outrage was carried out by the union in collaboration with Ondo State Hospital management board and the state primary health care agency.
