NIS nabs four over human trafficking in Ekiti

Operatives of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Ekiti state says it has arrested four persons in connection with alleged human trafficking to Italy for prostitution.

The NIS Public Relations Officer, Biodun Daramola  said a 35-year Mary Omowaye was  arrested in Ado Ekiti after the operatives got wind of her plan to traffic the victims through an agent in Lagos to Europe.

The victims are Adegoroye Abiodun, 24, Akinsanmi Titilayo Blessing, 30 and Adeyan Motunrayo, 20, all from Idanre town  in Ondo State.

NIS comptroller in the state, Benedict Dibia in a remark added that her operatives have stepped up efforts to rid the state off of human trafficking , child labour and prostitution in the state.

She further stressed that the suspects would be handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition in trafficking in persons NAPTIP for possible prosecution.
