Nigeria not ripe for Electronic Voting – Falana
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has called for the establishment of a special commission to investigate and prosecute election offenders.
Falana said the Independent National Electoral Commission alone cannot effectively prosecute election offenders.
While addressing newsmen in Lagos, Falana said INEC is not adequately equipped to successfully undertake the prosecution of election offenders.
On calls for electronic voting, Falana opined that Nigeria is not ripe for such innovation.
Meanwhile, the human rights lawyer also said Nigerian political institution will continue to witness electoral hiccups until stakeholders in the process play the game by its rules.
The SAN insisted that the electoral process was bastardized by those he referred to as enemies of Nigeria.
he said, the 2019 general election was of a low standard tasking the INEC and others involved to guide against challenges witnessed during subsequent elections.
Falana was of the opinion that the 2019 election got its set-back right from the pre-election stage.
