National Sports Festival opening ceremony holds today in Asaba

Ondo state commissioner, Youth Development and Sports, Dele Ologun says athletes representing the Sunshine State must see themselves as big brands in Asaba , Delta State, venue of the 21st edition of the national sports festival

Ologun in an interactive session with Ondo state athletes ahead of the opening ceremony of the event said sports as a lucrative business isn’t just for the athletes alone but for parents, Guidance and other relevant stakeholders

He advised the athletes not to be intimidated in anyway but be willing to give their best and leave the rest for God

240 Athletes will be representing Ondo state in 20 sports at the national sports festival, tagged Delta 2022.

Meanwhile, host, Delta began the festival with a Gold medal

Team Delta Cyclists beat three other states, Oyo, Plateau and Lagos to emerge winner in the 12km mixed relay decided on Igbuzor road today.

Edo and Rivers State were disqualified for their inability to present the minimum three female cyclists required for the event.

Meanwhile, the official opening ceremony of the festival will hold at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba later this evening
