Lagos state government on demolition spree following fatal building collapse
The Lagos state government has commenced the manual demolition of buildings marked on freeman street at the Ita Faaji area of Lagos island.
This follows the collapse of a three storey building on massey street in the same area.
The building caved in killing about nine people while about 50 others were rescued on March 13.
The Acting General Manager of Lagos state building control agency, Omotayo Fakolujo told newsmen that government cannot afford any more casualties from building collapse.
He said over 80 houses will be demolished in the exercise.
