Kim Trump Summit: North Korean Leader Talks Up Denuclearisation
US president, Donald Trump says the summit between him and the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ended with no agreement after he refused Kim’s demands for sanctions relief.
Trump said his North Korean counterpart had been willing to dismantle its Yongbyong nuclear complex but wanted all the sanctions lifted in exchange.
He states that the US was not prepared to agree to the move.
The pair had been expected to announce progress on denuclearization.
There was talk of a possible political declaration to end the 1950-1953 Korean war which finished with an armistice rather than a full peace treaty before the summit.
