Kenya: Opposition leader, Raila Odinga vows not to participate in election re-run, if…
Kenya’s opposition leader, Raila Odinga says, he will not take part in the presidential election re-run slated for 17th of October without legal and constitutional guarantees.
He said that the fresh vote must be held in an environment where everything that went wrong can be corrected.
Odinga’s opposition National Super Alliance went to the Supreme Court to challenge President Kenyatta’s win arguing that the results had been tampered with during transmission from the polling stations.
Meanwhile, President Kenyatta has responded to Odinga’s demands by saying there was nowhere in the law that requires the electoral body to consult Odinga.
The Supreme Court annulled the August election results saying the electoral commission had not followed the Constitution.
