INEC promises free, fair assembly election in Ekiti

Ahead of tomorrow’s election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ekiti State has promised the people of the state of a free and fair exercise.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Professor Ayobami Salami gave the assurance during the distribution of electoral materials to the sixteen local governments in the state.

Prof Salami said that the early distribution was to avoid lateness of the materials to the polling units which would also enhance hitch free process.

He noted that INEC would build on the success recorded in Ekiti during the presidential and national assembly elections to fulfill is mandate to the people.

Prof Salami assured that everything needed for the smooth conduct of the poll were ready, saying the election would hold as scheduled.

The REC reassured Ekiti people that their votes would count, calling on them to come out to exercise their franchise during the election.

Ekiti State will only be participating in State assembly election across the sixteen local governments unlike other states where Governorship and state assembly elections would be conducted simultaneously.
