House of Reps to commence voting on amendments to 1999 constitution tomorrow

The House of Representatives will tomorrow commence voting on amendments to the 1999 Constitution.

Chairman, house committee on media and public affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas explained that voting on the recommendation will give legal backing to the reviews.

Some of the amendments include a proposal to lower the age qualifications for political offices and proposed financial autonomy for local governments.

Namdas added that the review process has involved a synergetic effort between the state houses of assembly and the national assembly.
