Good Friday: Catholic Bishop urges Christians to live life of love, selflessness

Christians across the nation today celebrated Good Friday to mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Correspondent Tolulope Faleye who monitored the celebration in Osogbo the Osun state capital observed that christians embarked on processions and demonstration of the passion of Christ to mark the day

While speaking on the significant of the period the Catholic bishop of Osogbo diocese most rev John Oyejola said Good Friday is an important day that Christians ought to appreciate most.

Most Rev Oyejola further said that it was the day that Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross of Calvary, for the remission of the sins of the world.

He enjoined Nigerians to live a life of compassion, love, and selflessness which Jesus preached and lived.

The Clergyman added that following the sacrificial death of Jesus, Christians should ensure that the discipline of lent which they have carried for the last 40 days continue to reflect in them through alms giving, love and prayers

Also speaking some christian faithful Olushola Oyelere and Ayo Ajetumobi said the blessing of Christ crucification is assured if christians identify with
his suffering on the cross.

Oyelere and Ajetumobi therefore urged christians all over the world to use the opportunity of this season to pray for the challenges bedeviling
