Fuel Subsidy: Osun govt sets up committee to work out modalities for palliatives distribution
Osun state government has constituted a committee to deliberate and work out appropriate modalities for the distribution of fuel subsidy food palliatives from the federal government.
The committee comprised representatives of Osun Muslim community, Christian Association , Labour Union and market women among others
While Unveiling the committee,the state Commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi said the state has received 3,000 bags of rice from the federal government and its waiting for another tranche of 14,320 bags before embarking on distribution to the vulnerable in the state.
Alimi noted that the state is yet to receive 5billion naira palliative from the federal government, adding that the state is coming up with its own palliative to cushion economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
The commissioner said that with the calibre of people in the committee, he is assured that the palliative will be distributed accordingly.
In their remarks some members of the committee lasun akindele and Rev John Adeleke assured the public that the already received 3000 bags of rice are intact, urging the public to dispel rumour that they are either being hoarded or diverted.
Akindele and Adeleke said before the arrival of the remaining 14320 bags the committee would have deliberated on modalities of distribution so as to have a smooth distribution process.
