Four killed as rival cult groups clash in Osun

No fewer than four persons suspected to be cultists have lost their lives in different cult clashes in Ilesa axis of Osun state between Sunday and Tuesday this week.

One was allegedly killed last Sunday, two on Monday and another one yesterday, all at different areas in the town.

The sad incident has since then triggered constant fear among residents in the town who now go about their daily activities with caution and fear of the unknown.

The incident prompted an emergency security meeting between security agencies and stakeholders in the town where they brainstormed on causes and ways to find lasting solution to the menace.

While speaking to newsmen the Ogboni of Ipole Oba Oyebade Oyeleye and the Elegboro of Ijebujesa said government and politicians need to be proactive in passing into law, legislative bills on gun control in order to discourage proliferation of unlawful arms which the suspected cultists use to take lives.

In her reaction, the police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola hinted that some arrests have been made on the incident.

Opalola assured that the police will do the needful inorder to curb cultists related and other forms of killings in the state
