FG should embrace call for restructuring – Professor Oyewo

A don, Professor Oyelowo Oyewo, from the University of Lagos says the federal government needs to embrace the call for restructuring.

He said restructuring is deeply rooted in Federation, a system of government practised in Nigeria.

Professor Oyewo reiterated that the practice of federalism itself in Nigeria has not conformed to the ideal concept of federation and thus must be checked.

He opined government needs to restructure for the practice of true federalism and discourage over-centralization.

He said although restructuring might not solve all the problems of Nigeria it will address major issues of corruption, law and governance, public finance, budget, among others.
